Hari Sarvottamatva – Shlokas 22-24

The Devatas take refuge in Rudra while Rudra himself seeks the refuge of Brahma. It is me in whom Brahma takes refuge always. I am not dependent upon anyone.

That being who follows my philosophy as stated here with unflinching belief and without the distortions of jealousy and other defects will be liberated from samsara (karma).

(On the other hand) They who do not follow my path, due to jealousy (and other defects), know them to be bereft of wisdom and discretion, and they shall attain Naraka.

Notes:

Having declared Sri Narayana to be the supreme being in the previous shlokas, Sri Madhwacharya quotes shlokas from the Shastras to establish his supremacy.

He quotes the Mahabharata (shloka 22) to show the hierarchy of beings and how Sri Vishnu is the ultimate resort of all beings.

The two shlokas from Gita explain, in the words of Sri Krishna himself, how his worship alone leads to salvation and how ignoring his worship leads to ignorance, false knowledge and eventual downfall.
